Jane Goodall: What separates us from the apes?
"Traveling from Ecuador to Africa, Jane Goodall takes the audience on an ecological journey, discussing highlights and low points of her experiences in the jungle. She shows how progress is helping research (DNA analysis) and hurting the environment (clear-cutting). And she draws a dozen parallels between primate and human behavior, making the point that we really aren't all that different. Our big advantage, she says, is the ability to communicate with sophisticated spoken language -- yet, sadly, we are abusing this power and destroying the planet. She urges the TED audience to behave differently, and use their higher powers to correct the planet's course."

Genetically Modified Food: Panacea or poison?
"A very interesting documentary on genetically engineer food or GE, GMO. GE food raise serious concern about its safety because it is not properly regulated in North America yet. Primary research on rats feed with GE food show modifications to their internal organs. If you like the documentary, go and support the people who did the work so they can keep working on exposing the truth. You can buy the documentary here: http://oneheartbooks.com/books/misc_titles/genetically_mod_food.htm"

My dream home - an EarthShip
Unfortunately, it is not on my tiny income that I can afford one, however much I really want to have one. I also have a few good ideas for an EartShip to generate even more electricity and even generate water from the air, and I would use square foot gardening so as to amply feed myself and my family all year round. If anyone wants to offer me the money needed to pay for land and the building of an EarthShip in Switzerland where I live, I'll accept with eternal gratitude. In fact, my dream is much bigger than just having an EarthShip - what I would love to be able to do is to have a whole village/community of EarthShips being built, in the hope that the example would inspire countless other people to do the same. :)

Sierra Club Chronicles: The Day the Water Died
"March 24, 1989 will forever plague history as one of the worst environmental disasters of our time. Eleven million gallons of oil spilled into the Prince William Sound killing thousands of wildlife and destroying a complex and delicate ecosystem. Exxon promised they would clean up the spill and promised that those affected would get their lives back. Sixteen years later and the people are still waiting for their lives to become "whole" again.
"Ross Mullins - commercial fisherman and Cordova businessman, Dune Lankard - Eyak tribesman and environmental activist, Riki Ott - marine biologist and former commercial fisherman, are among many others who describe the historic the spill, the immediate emotional impact it had on them, and how, 16 years later, Exxon has still not paid the court-ordered punitive damages."

Future of Food
"Future of Food - Very Important Documentary about the ills of corporate food production. As is typically the case with corporations, it's Quantity over Quality. GM foods are unnecessary and no corporation is really going to feed third world nations. It's a scam to increase corporate hegemony at the cost of humanity. What Nature does, humans haven't even begun to understand, yet we're modifying and engineering what took millions of years of evolution to come about. A recipe for disaster!"

Shamans Of The Amazon
"Excellent documentary about the Amazonian Shamans and their use of the sacred Ayahuasca vine to communicate with the Spirits of the Forest. Includes footage of peaceful drug-prohibition protests, an interview with Terence Mckenna, criticism of the so called "war on drugs" (essentially a form of cultural genocide), the corruption within large oil companies and governments, many civil rights issues, etc.
"During the making of this film:
* 16 million acres of Amazon Rainforest was destroyed.
* 150,000 species became extinct.
* In Ecuador, 9 oil spills released millions of gallons of crude oil into the head waters of the Amazon.
* Scientists worldwide agreed that Global Warming and climate change is a major threat facing all life on Earth.
* Natural disasters including volcanic eruptions increased.
* In the Netherlands, the case against the Santo Daime was thrown out of court. The judge found Ayahuasca use was not a risk to public health and their constitutional right to freedom of religion must be respected.
* Spain, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Belguim and The Netherlands decriminalised most drugs.
* The USA gave the Taliban in Afghanistan $43 million dollars for the War on Drugs.
* The USA was voted off the United Nations Human Rights Commision.
* Humanity stands at the crossroads..."

Jane Goodall speaks at Google
"In the summer of 1960, 26 year-old Jane Goodall arrived on the shore of Lake Tanganyika in East Africa to study the area's chimpanzee population.
"Although it was unheard of for a woman to venture into the wilds of the African forest, the trip meant the fulfillment of Jane Goodall's childhood dream. Jane’s work in Tanzania would prove more successful than anyone had imagined.
"In 1977, Jane founded the Jane Goodall Institute for Wildlife Research, Education and Conservation to provide ongoing support for field research on wild chimpanzees. Today, the mission of the Jane Goodall Institute is to advance the power of individuals to take informed and compassionate action to improve the environment for all living things. The Institute is a leader in the effort to protect chimpanzees and their habitats and is widely recognized for establishing innovative community-centered conservation and development programs in Africa and the Roots & Shoots education program in more than 70 countries."

Global Dimming
Has massive man-made pollution both delayed and compounded the huge looming problem of global warming?
Al Gore: The Climate Crisis
"Appearing at The Guardian Hay Festival, Al Gore talks exclusively to Jonathan Freedland about his crusade to stop the world burning up through global warming."
If you haven't yet seen his film "An Inconvenient Truth", you should really do so. It is an excellent and most informative film which everyone should watch.
